Today 5 Rafale Jets Land at Ambala Airbase - 1st Batch


The first of the batch of French Rafale fighter planes come in Haryana’s Ambala Airbase after extending a distance of about 7000 kilometers to connect the Indian Air Force fleet. Head of Air personnel RKS Badauria is in the strategically important Ambla Airbase to get the Rafale planes it is  India’s first strategically important acquisition of Airplane at over two decades. The Rs. 59000/- crore agreement signed on Sept 23, 2016, for 36 Rafale Planes from French Aerospace leading Dassault Air. 


2012-India selects France’s Rafale from among five bidders to provide fighter planes: its offer cost that lowest. Under this agreement, the French company Dassault industry can provide 126 Rafale fighter planes. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (Hal), the state-owned business, is to create 108 fighter planes locally in the joint venture with French business Dassault Air, which can provide 18 Rafales in “Fly-away” condition.


Dassault Rafale is the support of the French Airpower. This aircraft demonstrates the sophisticated weapon system that Franch is capable of producing. Dassault Rafale is a very skilled craft. It may take out air dominance, land fire, power, and nuclear deterrent missions according to the requirement of the battlefield.

Twin-jet fighter aircraft the Dassault Rafale is capable to operate from both an aircraft carrier and a shore base. The fully versatile French Dassault Rafale is able to carry out all combat aviation missions like close air support, air superiority and air defense,  reconnaissance, in-depth strikes, anti-ship strikes, and nuclear deterrence. The Rafale started service with the French Navy in 2004 and with the French Air Force in 2006. With more than 30,000 flight hours in actions, Dassault Rafale has proven its worth in combat in Afghanistan, Mali, Iraq, Libya, and Syria. The Rafale was ordered by Qatar, Egypt, and India.


The mission system of the Rafale has the potential to combine a variety of current and future armaments.

The Rafale has been the following weapons:

The MICA: Air-to-air “Beyond Visual Range” (BVR) interception,  in their IR (heat-seeking) and EM (active radar homing), combat and self-defense missiles,

 The MICA: Used within visual range (WVR) and beyond visual range (BVR).

The METEOR:  The METEOR very long-range rocket and ram-jet powered air-to-air EM missile. 

The HAMMER: Modular, fitted with INS/GPS or INS/GPS/IIR (imaging infra-red) guidance kits, rocket-boosted air-to-ground precision-guided weapon series, or with the upcoming INS/GPS/laser guidance

The SCALP: Long-range stand-off missile,

The AM39 EXOCET:  Anti-ship missile,

Laser-guided bombs: With various warheads from 500lbs to 2,000 lbs

Classic bombs non guided

The 2500 rounds/min NEXTER 30M791 30 mm internal cannon, single and two-seaters both are available.
