SLPP's grand victory in Sri Lanka parliamentary elections under Mahinda Rajapaksa

Mahinda Rajapaksa's party Sri Lanka People's Party (SLPP) registered a stunning victory in the general election on Friday. This victory is also seen as Mahinda Rajapaksa's return to politics. Earlier these elections were postponed 2 times.

According to the final results released by the Election Commission, the SLPP alone won 145 seats in the 225-member Parliament and won a total of 150 seats with allies. In this way, the party has got a two-thirds majority. He said that the party received 68 lakh votes ie 59.9 percent.
